J.B. Hunt Stock Plunges. Diesel Prices Are High Enough to Hit Earnings.

High fuel prices, eventually, can hit the earnings of transportation companies even if they typically pass costs through to customers. Chief financial officer Brad Delco delivered the sobering news to investors at a Morgan Stanley conference: Third-quarter earnings would be down 5% to 10 % from the second quarter. Delco’s forewarning on Tuesday was an unusual move for the freight shipper, which doesn’t ordinarily provide explicit financial guidance.
